Service Overview

What an emergency roof repair involves

A roof emergency is any situation where water is actively entering the house or the roof has been opened up: shingles torn off in a storm, a tree limb through the roof, or a leak that suddenly gets much worse. Monarch offers 24/7 emergency roofing service. Call (551) 241-0470 and tell us what is happening.

The first goal is to limit damage. When conditions allow it to be done safely, that usually means temporary protection, such as tarping or sealing an exposed area, to keep water out until a permanent repair can be made. Temporary measures are just that. They buy time; they are not the repair.

Once the immediate problem is under control, we inspect the roof properly, in daylight and better conditions, and explain what is needed for a lasting repair. You receive an estimate before any permanent work begins.

Safety comes first

Please do not climb onto a roof in rain, wind, ice or darkness, or go near downed wires. Inside, stay clear of any ceiling that is sagging or bulging with water. If there is structural damage, fire or electrical risk, call 911 or your utility first.

Common Problems

When to call for emergency roofing

Not every roof problem is an emergency. These usually are.

Water coming through the ceiling

Active dripping or streaming water, especially near light fixtures.

Wind-torn roofing

Shingles or underlayment ripped away, leaving decking exposed.

Fallen limbs

Branches or trees resting on or puncturing the roof.

Sagging ceilings

A ceiling bulging with trapped water. Keep people out of the room.

Flashing torn loose

Metal pulled away from a chimney, wall or valley during a storm.

Visible openings

Holes or gaps where you can see daylight from the attic.

Temporary vs Permanent

From temporary protection to permanent repair

Emergency work happens in two stages. Here is what each one is for.

Stage one

Temporary protection

  • Limits water entering the home
  • Done when it can be done safely
  • Covers exposed decking or openings
  • Buys time for a proper inspection
Stage two

Permanent repair planning

  • Full inspection in better conditions
  • Clear explanation of the damage
  • Estimate for the lasting repair
  • Repair, or replacement if damage is extensive

Factors that affect the decision

How much of the roof is affected, whether decking or framing is damaged, the age and condition of the roof overall, and the weather in the days that follow.

When further investigation is needed

Some damage only becomes clear once debris is removed or materials are opened up. If we find more than expected, we explain it and update the estimate before going further.

Materials & Options

What temporary protection can include

The right measure depends on the damage and conditions. These are the common approaches.

Tarping

Heavy tarps secured over damaged areas to shed water until repairs can be made.

Sealing small openings

Covering torn shingles, lifted flashing or small punctures to stop active leaks.

Debris removal

Clearing branches or debris from the roof where it is safe to do so.

Documenting damage

Photos of the damage and the temporary work, so you have a record.

FAQ

Emergency roof repair FAQs

Are you really available 24/7?

Yes. Monarch offers 24/7 emergency roofing service. Call (551) 241-0470 at any hour.

Can you repair the roof during a storm?

Working on a roof in high wind, lightning or ice is dangerous. We will provide temporary protection when it can be done safely, and complete permanent repairs in suitable conditions.

Is a tarp a permanent fix?

No. A tarp is temporary protection to limit water damage. It needs to be followed by a proper repair.

What should I do before you arrive?

Move people and belongings away from the leak, catch dripping water, and keep out of rooms with sagging ceilings. Turn off power to affected areas if water is near fixtures and it is safe to do so.

Should I go on the roof to cover the damage myself?

Please do not. Wet, damaged roofs are slippery and unpredictable. Take photos from the ground or inside instead.

Will you work with my insurance company?

We can document the damage with photos and explain what we found. Coverage decisions are made by your insurer, so we cannot promise what will be covered.

Will the emergency visit cost more than a regular repair?

We discuss costs with you when you call and before permanent work begins. Inspections and estimates for permanent repairs are free.

What if the damage is worse than it looks?

Hidden damage to decking or framing sometimes shows up only after materials are removed. If that happens, we explain it before changing the scope.
