Service Overview

Fixing the damage before it spreads

A single cracked or missing piece of siding may look like a cosmetic problem, but it leaves the wall behind it exposed. Rain, snowmelt and wind-driven water can reach the water-resistive barrier and sheathing, and over time that can lead to rot, mold and interior damage. Small openings also give insects and wind-driven rain an easy way in.

Siding repair means removing the damaged pieces, checking what is underneath, and installing replacement material that locks into the surrounding courses. Depending on the material, that might involve unlocking vinyl panels, replacing a wood clapboard or cutting in a new fiber cement board.

Matching is often the hardest part. Siding fades and weathers, and profiles change over the years. We look for the closest available match and, when an exact match is not possible, talk with you about options, such as using matching pieces from a less visible wall on the most visible one.

Looking behind the damaged area

When a section comes off, we check the barrier and sheathing for moisture. If something underneath needs attention, we show you and explain the options before changing the scope.

Common Problems

Siding problems we repair

These are the issues homeowners call us about most often.

Wind-blown siding

Panels that unlocked or tore free in high winds, leaving the wall exposed.

Cracks and holes

Damage from impact, a mower or trimmer, ladders, or cold-weather brittleness.

Buckling and warping

Panels nailed too tightly or overheated can bow and pull out of line.

Leaks around openings

Water getting in at windows, doors or penetrations where flashing failed.

Rotted wood sections

Soft or decayed boards, often near the ground, under windows or at roof lines.

Heat damage

Siding melted or distorted near grills or reflected sunlight from nearby windows.

Repair or Replace

When repair makes sense, and when it does not

We would rather fix a small problem than replace a wall that does not need it. Here is how we look at it.

Usually repairable

Situations that suit a repair

  • Damage on one wall or a small area
  • Siding that is otherwise in good condition
  • A reasonable match is available
  • Wall sheathing behind it is sound
Consider replacement

Situations that may call for replacement

  • Damage spread across several walls
  • Siding that is brittle, faded or failing overall
  • No acceptable match for a visible repair
  • Moisture damage behind large sections

Factors that affect the decision

How much siding is damaged, the material and its age, whether a match is available, the condition of the wall behind it, and your budget and plans for the house.

When further investigation is needed

Some damage only becomes clear once siding is removed. If we find wet or soft sheathing, we stop, show you, and discuss the options before going further.

Our Process

How siding repair works

  1. Request

Send the form with photos of the damage, or call or text us.

  2. Assess

We look at the damaged area and the siding around it.

  3. Match

We identify the material and profile and look for the closest match.

  4. Estimate

You receive a clear scope and estimate to review.

  5. Repair

Damaged pieces come off, the wall is checked, and new pieces are installed and sealed.

  6. Review

We walk you through the finished repair and clean up the work area.

Timing depends on the extent of the repair and whether matching material has to be ordered. We confirm a schedule when you approve the estimate.

Materials & Options

Repairing different siding materials

Each material comes apart and goes back together differently. The approach depends on what is on your house.

Vinyl

Panels unlock from the course above so a damaged piece can be removed and a new one locked in place.

Wood

Damaged clapboards or shingles are cut out and replaced, then primed and painted or stained.

Fiber cement

Boards are cut out and replaced with care, then finished to blend with the surrounding wall.

Flashing & sealant

Repairs near windows, doors and roof lines include checking and restoring flashing and joints.

FAQ

Siding repair FAQs

Can you match my existing siding?

We try to find the closest available match in profile and color. Weathered siding rarely matches new material perfectly, so we explain what to expect and any options before work begins.

Can I repair just one piece of siding?

Often, yes. Many siding types can be repaired one piece or one section at a time, as long as the surrounding material is in good condition.

Why did my siding blow off?

Usually because a panel came unlocked from the course above, the fasteners pulled out, or the piece was damaged. We look at why it happened, not just at the missing piece.

Is a cracked panel really a problem?

It can be. Cracks let water reach the barrier behind the siding. A small crack is usually a quick fix, and it is better handled early.

Do you repair siding around windows?

Yes. Siding repairs near windows often include checking the flashing and trim, since that is where many leaks start.

What if you find damage behind the siding?

We stop, show you what we found, and explain the options. We do not expand the scope without talking to you first.

Do you repair wood and fiber cement as well as vinyl?

Yes, we work on different siding materials. The repair method and finishing depend on the material on your house.

Can I send photos first?

Yes. You can upload up to five photos with your request. Photos taken safely from the ground help us prepare for the visit.
